Just wondering is there any benefit/reason to use a VPN with DarkMX?  Or would that just slow the download speed?

Well, it probably won't slow things down much to use a VPN.  I've used it both ways.

Probably just better to use the VPN if you have one anyways.  Why let your home IP leak to any guard nodes if you don't have to?
